Info on transgender? and depression help?

Question: Info on transgender? and depression help?

(Posted by: Heartbroken on 2010-03-01 16:35:11)

Lets get one thing straight, idk if any of this is going to make sense. I really dont. Anyways, Im a 16 year old gay male. I suffer from pretty serious bulimia and at its worse purge up to 6 times a day. I often struggle with gender identity, like a lot. I often find myself stressed with racing thoughts about wanting a sex change. I think I should be a girl, most definetley. I cant explain it. I just want some info on the procedure. Like, is it too late to start the transfer? What would taking hormones cause? And, just some overall info on the operation and hospital stays?

Honey, you are a long, long way from "the operation ". you have a full plate to deal with before you even need start thinking about hospital stays and such. you'll have to deal with your eating disorder...perhaps it's related and could be dealt with in conjunction with gender identity exploration, but it's immediate and, combined with the depression are going to be top priorities. as long as you are breathing it isn't too late. i met a woman down in texas a year or two ago who had grs at 71! i thought i was old doing it in my mid fifties, but that tells you that it's never out of reach. i hope you will get yourself into therapy and soon. these things need dealt with in good order. please, get help soon! much love and hope. pj

I am 47 and I still have not had the operation so no it is not too late for you. You are in prime time. Taking the hormones prime your body they feminize you, you get softer skin and breasts and all that. Information on the operation is included below but it is early for that. What you need is a Gender Therapist and to discuss this with her to make sure it is right and then start the real life test and the hormones. This is a site for young people (under 35) to discuss the issue TrueSelves.com (all) susans.org/ Here is a list of therapists to see who can help you get started in working out the issues DrBecky.com/ therapists.html Definition t-vox.org/ index.php?title= Transgender webmd.com/ sex/ gender-identity-disorder Here is a list of educational sites that can help you learn about the issue On this site you can find a list of people who fit into society perfectly LynnConway.com Help in transitioning TSRoadmap.com transsexual.org/ index.html transgendercare.com/ A Surgeons Site marcibowers.com/

Honey, if you really believe you might be transsexual, you need to talk to a gender therapist. He or she will be able to help you decide if this is who you are, and will help you to decide what to do about it. There's a list of therapists here; drbecky.com/ therapists.html and you may find these pages helpful too; ai.eecs.umich.edu/ people/ conway/ TS/ TS.html transsexual.org/ index.html tsroadmap.com/ index.html And you WILL need to get help for your bulimia. I don't have any resources for that; you should speak to your Doctor.
