Question: Does crossdressing make me transgender?

I am already bi, and i love to crossdress. I really prefer women's clothing. This makes me just wierd right? Not a transgender. I figure not. I also feel that this might be a stupid question and i just wanna make sure. Sorry if i offended anyone. I am just curious.

Yes Your Transgender. Which includes many different identities and orientations including cross dresser. You could also at some point identify as Transsexual which is also under the Transgender Umbrella. Some Cross Dressers later on realize that they are Transsexual and they just didn't understand who they were at first. Also not all transsexuals need to transition as GID affects everyone differently. There are no absolutes even here. At one extreme some have to transition or die, others will never have SRS and live full time, some HRT alone, some just need some form of gender expression, and even a few just the knowledge that they are accepted. Leave yourself open to express yourself and see where you go. Never be afraid to ask honest questions. Good luck

Well, if you like crossdressing as just a hobby/ fetish kind of thing, then you're probably not... But, if you're like me, and really feel like a woman in a man's body, then yes, you are? Hope this helps?

It doesn't make you weird or transgendered. Transgendered is when you have a surgery to change your sex. And being you and having fun is never weird, so don't put yourself down! You are fabulous the way that you are, so have fun, enjoy life to the fullest and don't ever be anything but who you are!!

No. Crossdressing and transgendered fall under the same umbrella of the letter T in the LGBT community but are very different. Many guys feel comfortable wearing women's clothing but don't necessarily want to BE a woman. Just be who you are and be happy!

No, it makes you a crossdresser or a transvestite. You come under the "trans " umbrella. A trangender person is someone who is going through gender transition but not had surgery yet

Trangendered is typically an umbrella term. Any activity or any feelings that go outside the gender binary or traditional gender norms can fall into the category of 'transgender', and since crossdressing definitely is outside the 'gender norms' that means that you would technically be transgendered. I would just say that you are a crossdresser, not transgendered because people will misinterpret the word 'transgendered' wrong almost all the time. You aren't weird or anything though. There are plenty of people out there like you. Transgendered isn't the same at all as a transsexual(although a transsexual is also transgendered) though, which is perhaps what you are thinking of. A transsexual person feels that their physical sex does not match their internal gender and wants to correct their body via hormones, surgery or both, and wants to present as the gender they internally are. Additionally, the fact that you're bisexual has no bearing upon your gender identity. There are transsexual lesbians and transmen who are gay.

Technically? Yes. As transgender is an umbrella term to encompass anyone that defies traditional gender norms. This can include crossdressers, androgynes, people who express their gender presentation androgenously, drag queens, drag kings, people who like to genderf**k, 24/ 7 transvestites, "butch " looking women, etc. A transsexual on the other hand is someone with a brain-body mismatch and undergoes physical and irreversible medical intervention to change their body to match the gender they feel they are inside. So..I'd tread lightly with just shortening it to calling yourself "trans ". I know a girl at my university who is transgendered, but not transsexual and calls herself "trans ". She looks, acts, walks, talks, and responds to everything female, yet she wants to call herself a male name. It upsets me, because she has no desire to transition, take hormones, get surgery, or anything. She has not dealt with the discrimination I have as a transsexual, so it really grinds my gears when she equates herself to me by using a label she really shouldn't. That's just my opinion though.

YES, crossdressing falls under the heading of transgender. 'Transgender' describes a person whose gender identity or expression differs significantly from that assigned to them at birth. This includes crossdressers, transvestites, Drag Queens/ Kings, androgynes, genderqueers, and transsexual people (although some transsexual people don't accept that they're included; it's best to ask). It's generally accepted that transgender is not an identity in itself, but rather a sociopolitical alliance of people who suffer similar conditions, and are similarly discriminated against and marginalised by society.

A crossdresser is the actual meaning of the word transgender. That is what it was coined to mean in the first place. You are the definitive transgender if you are a cd. What you are trying to distance yourself from is the term transsexual not transgender. That is why the term TG was coined to separate TSs from CDs. Sharon

In today’s definition, the term transgender is an umbrella term used by the gay and lesbian community which encompasses anyone who doesn’t fit into societies binary definition of one or the other sex. However historically speaking, the very essence of the term transgender was to merge the terms transvestite and cross-dresser while separating themselves from what was then exclusively the gay community and transsexuals which was very specifically defined as a medical term. So does cross-dressing make you a transgender? Only in the sense that it’s an umbrella term and is the very definition of cross-dressing. But don’t worry there’s a huge percentage of heterosexual men that cross-dress for any number of reasons

It really depends on you. I cross dress from time to time. But, am certainly not trans gender or a transvestite. I just happen to find some of the clothing a female wears comfortable and taste full. Just like a lot of females identify with wearing pants. In fact most cross dressers, male or female, are strait. A transgendered person is one who desires to be the other sex. Often going as far as having a sex change. A transvestite, however, is a person who is sexually aroused from wearing the clothing of the opposite sex. If you relate to one of those titles then maybe you are. Either way, being a strait cross dresser, a transvestite or transsexual, be happy with it. If its who you are and your happy then go with it.
