Question: Anyone else repulsed by the sexual amalgam known as the transgender? should tolerance have its limits?
(Posted by: . on 2010-02-07 11:54:41)
Everard- Transgender isn't a sexual orientation. It's a extreme form of repressed homosexuality which drives people to self mutilation. These people don't need to be humored, they need to be helped. |

Follow the link that Trinidad gave you and get an education. You did get one thing right, "These people don't need to be humored, they need to be helped. " This is exactly what the gender therapists and doctors do, help us to transition and correct our birth condition. The world does not have a place for idiots and bigots. |

Not at all. But I surely am repulsed by your ignorance. Now hang up the lobster phone. Maybe you should move to India or Thailand where transgendered people are worshiped as a divine act of God. |

Why would god scramble the gender of a person? That is so unkind of him. |

No I am not repulsed. My tolerance is only tested by bigotry and racism. |

Why do you think other peoples' lives are any of your business? |

Not repulsed in the slightest. Why would it be repulsive? My tolerance for idiocy, however, wanes all the more every day. |

Why are you people so obsessed with other people's sexual orientations? I'm straight... I don't care what other consenting adults do. ~ |

Does a transgendered person stab or beat you or steal from you or sexually abuse under aged individuals or tear the skin of an animal while it is still alive and leave it shaking and confused to bleed to death so they can sell the fur? I would be more repulsed at people that did these things than with those that express themselves without harming others. |

Not any more than being repulsed by those who do not understand but who condemn out of hand. Who knows YOU might look pretty in a dress/ or flowered shirt (no matter what gender you are). |

No, I don't find it repulsive at all. I know several kind and wonderful transgender men and women. If it harms no one, why should it not be tolerated? |

You have NO IDEA what you're talking about. First let's talk about the terminology: “Transgender” is an umbrella term that covers many diverse groups that have little or nothing to do with each other. Many people assume it refers just to transsexual people, but they are wrong. Transsexual people only represent a small fraction of those who are considered “transgender”. And for the record a transsexual person is someone who was born with a brain-body mismatch, literally a female brain in a male body or vice-versa. It is a naturally occurring birth condition. Through the process of TRANSITION transsexual people change their bodies to match the true inner gender and assume a gender appropriate role in society. Also one does not “become” transsexual; as I said we are BORN that way. “Transgender” refers to anyone who varies from the societal norms for their gender as assigned at birth. Other than transsexual people other groups under the transgender umbrella include: Cross-dressers (obsolete term was “transvestite”) Drag queens Drag kings Androgynes Genderqueer Genderf*ck A-gender Bi-gender Two-spirit And more. If you'd like to know more about gender identity and transsexualism I highly suggest this "Gender Basics " section of Lynn Conway's web site: ai.eecs.umich.edu/ people/ conway/ TS/ TS.html#anchor107763 Transsexualism is a birth condition and it has NOTHING to do with sexual orientation. |

It is so ironic that you post a question about tolerance in the religious section. Shouldn't religion be about tolerance rather then hate? Edit; You sent this to me. From: Lobster Phone Subject: Tolerance Message: There's nothing especially ironic about my question being in the religion section. Have you ever read the bible? I'm pretty sure there are passages that explicitly forbid self mutilation. I'm an atheist by the way. Transvestites are fine, but when you go to the length of harming yourself, as transgenders do, a line needs to be drawn. Should we be more tolerant of schizophrenia? All I can really say is WOW. OK, so where do we draw the line. What exactly do you suggest is done with people that you do not want to tolerate. Do we exile them? Put them in prisons? Perhaps execute them? Who decides who is not tolerated? Do we have a panel of,,,I don't know you tell me who is on the panel to decide the fate, perhaps people that think like you do? I seriously doubt that would provide for a fair hearing. I have read the Bible, but why would you care what is in the Bible sense you are a self proclaimed atheist. Isn't the Bible nothing more then a work of fiction to you. There are some people in the world that feel any medical intervention is wrong, that faith and prayer will heal the sick. So therefore who decides what is proper medical care and what is as you say self mutilation? Open heart surgery to repair blocked arteries could be interpreted as a form of self mutilation under that thinking. What about having an abscessed tooth extracted. Who decides. You only? Is that not then playing God. You decide who lives and who dies. Personally I feel we should be much more tolerant of every one. Every person is different, every person is entitled to there own beliefs, be it religious, political. Every person deserves respect and has the right to be respected. I do not know who said this first but it is very true in my opinion. "You have the right to swing your fist all you want. That right ends where my nose begins. " I personally find your attitude very offensive, but I do tolerate that you have the right to feel that way. |
